Printing costs 'being overlooked'

Printing costs are being overlooked by businesses and other organisations around the world, it has been claimed.

According to the Software Shelf company, costs associated with digital printing tend to be considerably higher than most operations are aware and this expenditure can be reduced significantly through more effective management.

The software firm has launched a new digital printing solution that it insists can help cut these costs and has suggested that the issue should receive particular attention in light of the problems affecting the world's economy.

Danny Byrnes, vice-president of Software Shelf, said: "Industry researcher Gartner estimates that companies may spend an average of up to three per cent of their revenue on output, making it one of the most overlooked and under-managed assets of their front-end systems."

Last week, Asian electronics giant Samsung announced its intention to grow its share of digital printing markets worldwide over the course of the next 12 months.
